Google's Android team published an official set of AI skills: short instruction files that teach an assistant like Claude how Google wants Android apps built. It's free and open source (Apache 2.0) and past 9,000 stars on GitHub. Claude loads the right skill when your task matches it.

Here's what's inside, how to install it in Claude, the Play policy check step by step, and the catches.

What's inside

  • Play policy insights: an auditor that compares your app's code with what you declared to the Play Store, and reports undeclared data collection, missing disclosures and risky permissions (location, microphone, contacts, account deletion, data safety label and more).
  • Camera with CameraX, Wear OS smartwatch screens and widgets, Android TV, Android for Cars, XR display glasses.
  • Moving old XML screens to Jetpack Compose, adaptive layouts, edge-to-edge, Navigation 3.
  • App size and speed: the R8 keep-rules analyzer, the Android profiler, Compose performance.
  • Security (intents, permissions), sign-in (restore credentials, verified email), Play Billing upgrades, testing setup, the AGP 9 upgrade.
  • 30 skills in all, written by Google (author: Google LLC on every file).
