career-ops was built by santifer with Claude Code as its brain. He ran his own search through it: 740 job posts evaluated, 68 applications, 12 interview processes, 1 offer (Head of Applied AI). Then he open-sourced it, and it is past 74,000 stars on GitHub.

What it does (from the README)

  • Still open? It checks the posting is live before you write a word.
  • Not you? It scores the role against your real CV and tells you to skip a weak fit. It will not push you to apply below 4.0/5 (you can override it).
  • Worth it? It tailors an ATS-readable CV PDF, drafts a cover letter and the answer to every application field.
  • Who to talk to? It finds the hiring manager or recruiter and drafts a short LinkedIn note. It never sends it.
  • Scan mode checks 100+ pre-configured company job boards (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Retool, n8n and more) for new roles.
  • Everything stays on your machine: no telemetry, no backend. Your CV only goes to the AI you use.

Set it up

  1. You need Node.js (it ships with npx) and Claude Code.
  2. Run: npx @santifer/career-ops init (it creates a career-ops folder and installs what it needs)
  3. cd career-ops, then start Claude Code there: claude
  4. On first launch it asks for your CV, what you want and what you refuse, just by chatting. Nothing to edit by hand.
  5. Paste a job URL or the job text. It runs the full pipeline: evaluation, report, tailored CV PDF and a tracker entry. Or type /career-ops to see every command.
