Install OpenQodex: a Second Claude Reviews Your Code Before You Push
Open-source code review that runs scanners on what you changed, then hands every changed line to a separate Claude. How to install it, how to run it, how to make it block a push, and the catch
OpenQodex reviews your unpushed commits and uncommitted changes before you push. Free scanners (secrets, code security, vulnerable packages, lint, Docker, Terraform, SQL) run only on the files you changed. Then a separate Claude Code process, on your own login, has to keep or drop every scanner finding and give a reason. The Claude that wrote the code does not review it.
Install it
- You need Node 22 or newer, git, macOS or Linux, and Claude Code installed and logged in.
- In your project folder, run: npx openqodex init (it finds Claude Code, lists the files it will write, asks once, and downloads the scanners).
- Want only the skill, with no push gate and no scanner downloads? Run: npx skills add openqodex/openqodex -g
- Try it safely first: npx openqodex demo builds a sample repo with planted bugs. Open that folder in Claude Code and say: review my change with openqodex
