Make Claude Animate Your Drawings Like a Real Animator
rossark-motion-skill is a free Agent Skill that teaches Claude the tricks animators use, so a drawing breathes, blinks and acts instead of jumping between poses. What it does, how to add it, a first prompt, and the catch
Ask an AI agent to bring a character to life and it usually swaps one drawing for another: the face teleports between expressions, the body stops dead at every pose and everything moves in sync, like a machine. The README puts it plainly: "the result looks like a slideshow instead of something alive." rossark-motion-skill is a free, open-source Agent Skill (MIT) that lists those mistakes and how to fix them, so Claude animates more like an animator.
Here's what it does, how to add it, a first prompt to try, and the catch.
What it teaches Claude
- One clock for the whole scene, so nothing drifts out of time.
- Parts that turn around their real pivots (an arm at the shoulder, a head at the neck).
- Trailing parts that follow a beat later: hair, hats, tails and forearms lag the body.
- Idle life that never stops: breathing, looking around, blinking, shifting weight.
- Smooth paths through key poses instead of a stop at each one, with small amplitudes and strong curves.
- Working from a reference video: it measures the motion frame by frame before building.
- Subjects: characters and creatures, plants, cloth, fire, smoke, water, weather, lights, machines, icons, logos, charts and whole scenes.
