Mortiflix: Let Claude Run a Motion Design Studio on Your Own Computer
An open-source app where Claude makes a video one stage at a time and you approve each stage. How to set it up, how to make your first video, and the catch
Mortiflix is a free, open-source app (AGPL-3.0 licence) that works like a small motion design studio. You write a brief, and Claude builds the video in stages: the script, style frames, transitions, an animatic, music and the final. At every stage Claude stops and waits. Only you can approve it, and you can pin a note on the exact spot of a frame or the exact moment of a video. The next version answers every note.
Here is how it works, how to set it up, how to make your first video, and the catch.
How it works
- Four kinds of video today: an explainer (brief, script, style frames, transitions, animatic, music, final), a social short, a logo sting and a song.
- A Claude session works until it has something for you to review, submits it, and stops. Waiting on you costs nothing.
- It runs on your own Claude Code login (your plan pays) or your own Anthropic API key (you pay per token).
- Videos are built in Remotion and every render is checked with ffmpeg for black or frozen frames and loudness.
