Why you should care

Lately, people are turning Claude into a studio. Runway and ElevenLabs now both work inside Claude, and those are paid products. This is the free, local version of the same idea.

  • ComfyUI is a free, open-source app that makes images, video and audio with AI models. It runs on your own computer.
  • A free plugin lets Claude drive it. You say what you want in plain words, and Claude finds a model, builds the workflow, runs it and hands you the result.
  • Because it runs on your computer, there is no per-image or per-video fee.
  • The plugin ships with 42 skills and 38 tools. They cover images, and video models like WAN and LTX 2.3, and more.

This guide gives you the setup, the first prompts to try, and the catch. Please read the catch: this is not a one-click thing, and we have not tested it ourselves yet.

What you need

  • Claude Code.
  • ComfyUI installed on your computer and running. It is free. The easiest way is ComfyUI Desktop from comfy.org/download. You can also install it from source.
  • Node 22 or newer, but only for the second install option below (the settings.json one).
  • Space on your disk. The model files are big downloads.
  • A Mac, Linux or Windows computer. The plugin says it works on all three.
