ReelMimic: Show Claude a Video You Love and Get a New One in the Same Style
An open-source app that takes a reference video apart, shows you a plan, then has up to six Claude agents build a new video in that style. How to set it up, how to make your first video, and the catch
ReelMimic is a free, open-source app (MIT licence). You drop in a reference video, a file, a phone recording or a YouTube link, and say what you want to make. It takes the reference apart: shot count, shot lengths, tempo, transitions, colours, framing and camera moves. Then it shows you a plan to check, and builds a new video in that style. It learns how the reference was made and never reuses its footage, characters, logos or assets.
Here is how it works, how to set it up, how to make your first video, and the catch.
How it works
- It breaks down the reference, then shows a storyboard, characters, assets and a few style frames for you to approve.
- Up to six AI agents build different parts of the video at the same time.
- Each finished shot goes to a different agent to check, so nobody grades their own work. Every fix comes with before and after screenshots.
- When it is done, scrub to any second and leave a note. Send the notes and it fixes them.
