Stop Claude Code Asking Permission for Every Harmless Command

One built-in command reads your old sessions, finds the safe commands you always approve, and writes them into your project's allow list. How to run it, what to check, and the catches

Most of the permission prompts in Claude Code are for commands that only look around: listing pull requests, checking running containers, reading pods. You click yes every time. /fewer-permission-prompts is a skill that ships with Claude Code. It goes back through your past sessions, finds the read-only commands you keep approving, ranks them, and adds them to your project's allow list so Claude stops asking.

What it does

  • Scans your past session transcripts for common read-only Bash and MCP tool calls.
  • Ranks them, most-approved first.
  • Adds them as allow rules in the project's .claude/settings.json, so Claude runs them without a prompt.
  • Commands that edit or delete aren't read-only, so they stay off the list and still ask you.
