Stop Claude Signing Its Name on Your Commits (or Sign Them Your Way)
Claude Code adds its own name to every commit and pull request it makes for you. The one line that hides it, the line that rewrites it, where to put it for you or your whole team, and the one catch to check first
Every time Claude Code commits for you, it adds a line at the bottom of the commit message: Co-Authored-By, with the name of the model that wrote it. Every pull request it opens ends with "Generated with Claude Code".
That's on by default. Here's how to hide it, change it, or set it for your whole team, in one settings line.
What Claude adds by default
| Where | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Every commit | Co-Authored-By: <the model's name> <noreply@anthropic.com>, e.g. Claude Opus 5.5 |
| Every pull request | 🤖 Generated with Claude Code (with a link) |
| Cloud and Remote Control sessions | A Claude-Session line with a link to the claude.ai session |
