Turn Off Claude Training on Your Chats in 10 Seconds
One Claude setting decides whether your new chats can be kept for up to 5 years to train future models. Where the switch is on web and phone, what turning it off does and doesn't cover, and the other two leaks most people miss
On Claude Free, Pro and Max, one privacy setting called "Help improve our AI models" decides whether your new chats and Claude Code sessions can be used to train future Claude models. When it's on, Anthropic says it may keep that data, de-identified, for up to 5 years in its training pipelines.
Here's where the switch is, what turning it off covers, and two other ways chats still leave your hands.
