Claude Code Has Mods Now: Every Mod From the Video, With the Install Commands
Tetris above the chat box while Claude works, a pixel cat acting out whatever Claude is doing, and a pet that grows every time Claude ships. What mods are, the one setting that makes them show up, the exact commands for each mod, and the prompt to have Claude build your own.
On October 1, Anthropic's ClaudeDevs account announced that you can now mod Claude Code: change how it behaves, customize the screen, and swap in your own features. Within a day people had put Tetris right above the chat box, turned whatever Claude is doing into a live cartoon, and given Claude a pet that grows as it works.
Here's what a mod actually is, the one setting most people miss, and every mod from the video with the commands to install it.
What a mod is
A mod is a small plugin that runs inside Claude Code itself. It can draw its own buttons and panels above your prompt, react to what Claude is doing (reading a file, editing, running a command), and add new commands. Anthropic's own examples show a weather band above the prompt that turns from Clear to Storm as your context fills up, a guard that stops an rm -rf and shows exactly what it would delete, and a replay of every edit Claude made in a turn.
Mods are written in a few lines of TypeScript, but you don't have to write one: you can ask Claude to build it for you. They ship inside plugins, so you install them with /plugin, like any other plugin.
