At DevDay, OpenAI said its engineers have AI agents fixing dozens of bugs a day. Here is how to get the same thing on your own app: a bug report comes in on GitHub, Codex finds the broken code and writes the fix on GitHub's machines, and you wake up to a pull request waiting for your approval.
Most bug reports sit in a GitHub tab until you have a free evening. OpenAI's DevDay made the other way concrete: the report comes in, an agent reads it, finds the broken code, writes the fix and hands you a pull request. You review it over coffee and click approve.
The work runs on a machine in the cloud, not on your laptop, so it keeps going while your laptop is closed and you're asleep. Nothing goes live until you approve it.
What OpenAI showed at DevDay
- Dots: always-on agents inside ChatGPT with their own computer in the cloud. In the keynote demo, a user's bug report landed in a feedback channel and an engineer's dot picked it up and opened a pull request with the fix. OpenAI's line on stage: "Our engineers have their dot fixing dozens of bugs every day."
