Make Animated Explainer Videos Inside Claude: Try the New Claude Motion
Anthropic just released Claude Motion, a beta feature that turns a prompt, a report or a chart into a short animated video you can export as an MP4. It does not use a video model: Claude writes the animation as code, so every word, number and timing is editable. How to start, who has it, prompts to try on your own material, how to edit and export, and what to know before you rely on it
Claude Motion is a new feature in Claude that makes short animated videos from your prompt. You describe what you want, for example a quarterly report turned into a 30-second explainer for an all-hands meeting, and Claude builds an animation that plays like a short video. Anthropic announced it on Oct 8 2026 as a beta.
It is not a video-generation model. Claude writes each animation as code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, so you will not get realistic footage or people. What you get is a clean motion-graphics explainer that you can change word by word, then export as an MP4. It is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
Make your first video
- Open Claude and, in the message box, type /motion. Anthropic's launch page says this brings up the Motion option. You can also select "Output" in the message box and choose "Motion", or ask for an animation in any chat.
- Describe the video. Say who it is for, where it will play (a meeting, a social feed, a customer onboarding page) and roughly how long it should run. Attach the report, data or images it should use.
- Send it and watch what Claude builds. It plays in Claude like a short video.
- Ask for changes in plain words ("Slow down the second scene") or edit the animation directly in the editor, then click Export and choose MP4.
