cc-stretch is a free Claude Code plugin. Replies arrive short, and every key phrase is a link. Click one and it grows right where it stands, so you never lose your place. In the author's test on 69 real replies, what you see first was 17% of the words.
Here's what it does, how to set it up, and the catches.
What you get
- Short replies by default: about a sixth of the words, with roughly two of every three key points.
- Click a linked phrase and it grows in place; click « and it shrinks back. The words you already read never move.
- Claude is told which parts you opened, so it doesn't assume you read the rest.
- Finished groups of tool calls fold into one line.
