Never Come Back to a Stuck Claude: Make It Buzz Your Phone the Second It Needs You
By default Claude Code waits on every question until you're back and never tells your phone. The two switches that make it push you the moment it needs a yes or no, or finishes a long job, and the prompt that turns it all on for you
You give Claude Code a long job and walk away. Ten minutes in it stops to ask one thing: can I run this, which file did you mean. Then it waits. It keeps that question open until you come back, and by default your phone hears nothing.
Two settings fix it. Claude pushes a notification to the Claude app on your phone when it needs you, and another when a long job is done. You answer from the phone and it keeps going.
What you turn on
| Setting | In /config | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| inputNeededNotifEnabled | Push when actions required | Buzzes your phone when a permission prompt or question is waiting |
| agentPushNotifEnabled | Push when Claude decides | Claude pings you when it thinks it's worth it, like a long job finishing |
| remoteControlAtStartup | Enable Remote Control for all sessions | Connects every session to your phone automatically, so the pushes can arrive |
