Claude's own page for Claude Design says it plainly: "Larger requests, like a full deck or design, use more of your limit than a typical message." And that limit is shared. Design work draws from the same pool as the rest of your Claude use, Claude Code included, so an afternoon of slides and landing pages can leave you rate limited when you sit down to code.

Open Design is a free, open-source alternative (Apache 2.0) that has passed 99,000 stars on GitHub. You describe what you want and it builds the website, the app screen or the slide deck in front of you, in the style of a real brand if you like. The difference is the model: you pick it, so it can be DeepSeek, a model running on your own computer, or any provider you already pay for.
