OpenAI updated the Codex CLI, the version of ChatGPT's Codex that runs in your terminal. It has a new full-screen interface, a voice mode, and one screen that lists every job it is running.

Here's what you get, how to try it, an example prompt, and what to check first.

What you get

  • A full-screen interface where you can scroll earlier output and the message box stays at the bottom.
  • Voice mode: say several jobs out loud and Codex starts each one at the same time.
  • An agents screen (left arrow) to see what is running, filter, group by status, search and jump into any job.
  • Fork a conversation into a new worktree: the same context in a separate copy of your project.
  • Remote control: check progress and answer questions from your phone.
  • Usage analytics, and Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX shown right in the terminal.
