Claude Code can turn your speech into a prompt. It is built in, it understands coding words, and it does not use up your Claude messages or usage limits.

Here is how to turn it on, how to make it faster, and what to know first.

Step 1: turn it on

  1. Update Claude Code (voice needs v2.1.69 or later, tap mode v2.1.116 or later).
  2. Sign in with your Claude.ai account (run /login if /voice says it is unknown).
  3. In Claude Code, type /voice. On a Mac, allow the microphone for your terminal when asked.
  4. Hold Space and speak. Let go to finish; your words appear in the prompt. Press Enter to send.
