Make Your Claude Code Limit Last Longer With a Haiku 5.5 Helper
A two-file skill that hands Claude Code's easy jobs (searching files, reading logs, small edits) to Haiku 5.5 and keeps Opus for the hard thinking. The whole skill to paste in, where each file goes, and how to check it's working
Every task you give Claude Code on Opus comes out of your plan's limit, even renaming a file. Anthropic's own help page says Opus uses meaningfully more of your usage than Sonnet or Haiku, and Haiku is meant for quick lookups and simple edits.
So this skill sorts the work: the easy jobs go to a Haiku 5.5 helper, and Opus only does the thinking.
How it works
- A small helper agent runs on Haiku, which is now Haiku 5.5 in Claude Code.
- A short note in your CLAUDE.md tells Opus which jobs to hand to it: searching files, reading logs, listing folders, renames, one-line edits, running a command and reporting the result.
- Opus keeps planning, debugging and anything that changes several files.
