Set Up universal-modder, the Free Repo That Lets Claude Mod Your PC Games
universal-modder gives Claude Code skills for twelve game engines, so one sentence can add a weapon, a unit or a whole new mechanic to a game you own. How to install it, what it needs, the catches, and a prompt to start
universal-modder is a free, MIT-licensed toolkit made of Claude skills, a command line tool called um, and an MCP server for generating game art. Point Claude at a game folder and it follows a safe loop to build the mod.
Here's what it does, how to install it, the catches, and a prompt to try.
What it does
- The mod-any-game skill carries playbooks for 12 engines, including Unity, Unreal, Godot, Source, Bethesda and Minecraft.
- Claude backs up your saves, reads the real game code, builds one working slice, then tests it in the running game.
- It can generate sprites, 3D models and audio, package the mod, and write a field note for the next agent.
