Most applications land in a pile. hunter-skill is a free, open-source set of 11 Claude skills for job hunting, and one of them, the Connector, goes around the pile: it finds the hiring manager and drafts a note from you to them.

Here's what it does, how to set it up in two minutes, and how to use it on one job you really want.

What the Connector does

  • Looks for the hiring manager on the job post, the team's own pages, and their engineering blog posts or talks.
  • If no manager is public, it suggests the recruiter or a teammate who has spoken about the team.
  • Checks the person with you before it writes a word.
  • Drafts an email under 150 words: one line about their public work, one true win from your resume, one small ask for a 20-minute chat. Or a LinkedIn note of 200 characters or less.
  • Follows up at most twice (3 days, then 7 days later) and stops after 21 days of silence or any no.
