Take Claude's Name Off Your Commits in One Settings Line
Claude adds its own name to every commit and pull request it makes for you. The one line that removes it, the line that swaps in your own words, which file to put it in, and the two catches to check first
Every time Claude Code commits for you, it adds a line at the bottom of the commit message: Co-Authored-By, with the name of the model that wrote it. Every pull request it opens ends with "Generated with Claude Code".
That's on by default. Here's how to hide it, change it, or set it for your whole team, in one settings line.
What Claude adds by default
| Where | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Every commit | Co-Authored-By: <the model's name> <noreply@anthropic.com>, e.g. Claude Opus 5.5 |
| Every pull request | 🤖 Generated with Claude Code (with a link) |
| Cloud and Remote Control sessions | A Claude-Session line with a link to the claude.ai session |
