Take Back the Credit: Remove Claude's Co-Authored-By Line From Every Commit
By default Claude Code puts the model's name on every commit and a robot tag on every pull request. The one settings line that strips it, how to sign commits your own way, and the prompt that makes Claude change it for you
Every time Claude Code commits for you, it adds a line at the bottom of the commit message: Co-Authored-By, with the name of the model that wrote it. Every pull request it opens ends with "Generated with Claude Code".
That's on by default. Here's how to hide it, change it, or set it for your whole team, in one settings line.
What Claude adds by default
| Where | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Every commit | Co-Authored-By: <the model's name> <noreply@anthropic.com>, e.g. Claude Opus 5.5 |
| Every pull request | 🤖 Generated with Claude Code (with a link) |
| Cloud and Remote Control sessions | A Claude-Session line with a link to the claude.ai session |
